the CAT 398 is phased out you may not find any information on D series engines if you persist with Caterpillar they may charge a fortune to help you.

hello crm,

I noticed that you are an ex Cat.

I have few CAT 3512 BTA engines ( Actually 8 in one room).

We have an issue of high winding temepratures ( upto 108 deg C) and also high engine room temeperature ( 55 deg C)

Is there any calculation to find out how much opening is required in the engine room to enable enough ventilation and for combustion air.

Here in Saudi ambient temperatures can go as high as 49deg C.

Any inputs will be appreciated,...if you need any more info let me know..

Cheers.
