Hydrotest Stresses Calculations in Compress Software

06/04/2008 3:23 AM

Kindly tell me how can we calculate hydrotest stresses manually.any formulas? While we are using Compress to calculate hydrotest stresses, we will get a list of stresses during test and Allowable test stresses.I want to know the method of calculating that stresses.Allowable stresses can be calculated using Sec VIII Div II but how can we calculate the stresses during test.

Allowable stress is not something you calculate. Allowable stress is defined by the ASME Code based upon a safety factor. Allowable stress is found in Section II. The stresses you calculate are the stresses in the material based on the design pressure you use in your calculation or the the allowable pressure based on the material thickness and weld efficiency factor you use in your calculation.

The determine hydro test stress you simply insert the hydro test pressure in the formulae in UG 27.
