Endurable Water Pressure Rates

06/05/2008 11:03 PM

I am a contractor, doing construction business in U.S. Forces Installations, Japan.

My question is under the 170psi, are Schedule 80 PVC Pipe (6"dia & cement adhere type) will throughly enduable or not.

Of course, we did received max. endurable pressure rate, up to 280psi for those pvc materials from manufacturer but, there were not referred about connection joint.

In such a case, we are okay to adopt tradditional cement glue or any mechanical /bell joints are competent?

I do not completely know the answer, but am aware that PVC cement takes a minimum of 24 hours to cure to an acceptable strength before restoring water service.

Just as the pipe manufacturer will give a "certification" for their product, ask the glue manufacturer for similar "certification". When you find the glue that provides the certification, stick with the manufacturer (Bad pun intentional) and do not buy from other suppliers. Do the same with the mech joint suppliers.

Once these suppliers are lined up, have them bring out donuts in the morning, and give a 30 minute product demo to your crew. Schedule them on separate days. Make sure your people follow the training.
