Web-Based Assembly Drawings and Parts

06/09/2008 4:29 PM

Hi,

I just wanted to solicit the collective on a good tool for uploading your assembly drawings on a Web page and then doing a click on part type of ecommerce page. We are creating all of our assembly drawings in Solidworks and like to use this as an input if possible.

Has anyone done this and is there an easy way of doing it?

Let me know,

Tony

what is the name of your company and what is your product lines?

Not that this has anything to do with you plan. I know that solidworks has worked with many companies in this area. You might want to check with them and I bet that they will be able to help you out,

Thanks

The name of our company is Bob Space Racer's, Inc. Our product lines are Arcade Games, Trailer Model Games, and Park Model Games. We also do trade show exhibits for other clients etc. We have a good working relationship with our Solidworks VAR. So it is something I am checking out. Just like to work with something that is easier to set up without having to be a Solidworks expert to do.

Do you want to upload the model or just a 2D drawing?

We use Inventor rather that Solidworks but that allows you to publish models in DWF format, you can choose whether viewers can measure or print the model but they can rotate & section it. Is this available in Solidworks?

You can do a similar job using Adobe Acrobat 3D.

Using SolidWorks for most of my stuff, I always try to encourage customers to download 'free ware' suited for them to review the design. You simply download it for yourself and then generate the edrawing and share!
