The rating of a VCB is not something you would calculate, it is something provided by the VCB manufacturer. If you ARE the VCB mfr and you don't know how to determine the ratings of your products, please post the name of your company so that I can completely avoid using your products!

If you are asking how to determine what size VCB to use, that is also smething so basic as to make me suspect that you are not an electrical engineer. In that case, you should hire someone qualified to do your project. VCBs are only used on very high power medium voltage or high voltage projects. If you have to ask this question, you should NOT be involved in it. For us to help you would be irresponsible.

Dear ,

Normally VCBs are in rated as following

01. Voltage 12 KV,

02. Current 630 / 1240 amp.

03. Short time rating

a) Making current Normally 100 KA for 1 sec

b) Breaking current Normally 40 KA for 1 sec.

( even you can go for 25 KA rating but it all depends upon short ckt rating of your system)
