Low Voltage Cable Monitoring Systems

06/18/2008 3:21 AM

Hi All,

I have been given the responsibility of finding local partners in countries for the low voltage cable monitoring system that we have developed. The problem is that we need partners that already supply or work with national telecommunication companies but I don't know how to find this information. I have spoken to a couple of national communication companies but they have been reluctant to give me information rearding their suppliers.

Does anyone have any ideas where I could find the information I need?

Any advice appreciated.

Mike

Hi, The system monitors the voltage, currents and energy (active, passive and apparant) on low voltages cables. One of it's prime roles is to protect against theft. It also monitors indoor transformer/converter station and energy power cable cabinets.

Regards,

Mike

Its an easy job, you can diy by yourself.

one or serval meters can do.

I wonder why you monitor so much parameter for proventing thief? only a parameter can do the trick.

The parmters you listed will monitor the power quality. if its your intention. buy a power quality monitor. not expensive.

you can ifnd it in any electric shop.

if yoiu hve other aim, let me know details.

Hi cnpower,

The reason that can monitor such a range is because we also supply this system to some energy companies in Poland that require various parameters to be measured due to a new ruling in the country. Hence, the software has been developed to allow the client to specify it's requirements of the system. To go off topic a second, the responders are designed to be placed on the lines every 300 metres, so that fluctuations or breaks can be more accurately located. Basically, that's why it the software has been designed to measure so many parameters.

Good luck with the search.

In the more developed countries I can think of two sources for contacts. Firstly, look up any national/international trades synposium in a closely related field and get the "list of exhibitors". That should give you a focused list of suppliers into that industry. The other would be to contact their national "engineering/electronic/electrical" association and find who are the corporate members (not the individuals) and again you will have a short list of potential candidates.

In the less developed countries, I would try to find out where there cabling is being supplied from and make contact through those companies. Convince them there is benefit to introduce a "total system solution" and maybe make them agents/partners.

And finally, ADVERTISE in the national papers of the countries that you wish to market into. That way you will be contacted by organisations that are at least looking to expand business and then choose from those candidates on their demonstrated capability and performance.

Hi 'Just an Engineer',

Thanks for the good advice. I'd not thought of that.

Much appreciated.

What is the application you are selling? Is it power monitoring.

Hi Theo,

Yes, the system monitors the voltage, currents and energy (active, passive and apparant) on low voltages cables.

One of it's prime roles is to protect against theft. It also monitors indoor transformer/converter station and energy power cable cabinets. This has been it's primery use by the National Polish Telecom Company but energy companies have also been trialing it for monitoring power loss/fluctuations.

Hello,

I sent a more detailed explanation of the system to your email address.

The attachments are quite large and so, I hope that they reached you safely.

Often there are Associations that serve that industry. As a member you can obtain member lists, which will categorize the membership. That is often a good source for the contact information you seek.
