I've got one on my desk, it measures 10mm x 20mm x 10mm

A couple of test probes connected to a Spectrum Analyser ought to do the job. An Oscilloscope would be a reasonable second choice.

Construct a simple oscillator test station i.e. from any amateur radio book and check it out. It can be tuned in on a radio that will tune the frequency of the osc.
