What is the smallest pump you can install underground?

06/18/2008 7:46 AM

I want to install the smallest pump as possible. I will take the supply from the emergency generator and I will need to know which size of a pump I can intall and it's amount of water it can produce. Show calculations and your assumptions.

That is way too vague! I could say, install this pump (a micro pump which measures 0.5 cm cubed) coupled with a little LV transformer and there you go! But I have no idea what you want to do with the pump or how much flow is needed or the pressure you want or the size of the genny, etc! Therefore my suggestion is rubbish!

Please give use a fighting chance so that we don't have to try and mind read at a distance!

What do you call a small pump? What is it for? What country do you reside? (There maybe somebody here who lives in your neck of the wood who can point you to a good supplier!)

In the style of our friend Sparkstation

For people to answer this question, you will need to provide more input. There are really minature pumps that will provide less than 1cc per hour, but is that enough?

How much water do you need to pump?

What is the height difference the pump will have to lift against? (And the expected delivery pressure.)

Is this down a borehole or a well?

There are some guys who will respond with great innovations about air lift pumps, submersible pumps, positive displacement pumps and so on but we need to understand the expected constraints.

Yep. Start with the flowrate and pressure performance requirement. Follow it in with the line size and the power supply details, and the physical size of the pump will follow.

Dear Friend.

First find out the height that you want to avail water. It should be from bottom of tank to the place of flow required. Find out the rate of flow required. Use a simple gallon can and measure the time taken to fill the can in second conver to minutes or hour. This will give you GPM Or GPH.

Once you avail this you can check with pump supplier giving him height and discharge. you may check with site www.indomaindustries.com They make small capacity submersible pumps.

Hope I have solved your querry.
