Industrial Engineer- Aerospace

I'm looking for assistance in perfecting a process that uses Easy Flow 45 silver solder. A heater mat with advance alloy, 294 ohms/circular mil/ft. Does anyone have equipment other than resistence welders for this material. We currently use a resistence welder w/a carbon block that heats to 1350 degrees F. It seems crude. and the excessive heats makes the wires harden and break.

I'm not quite sure about your application, but we use induction to heat and braze silver solder for aerospace tube applications.

Hi,

please specify what is : Easy Flow 45 and which material do you want to braze?

It is very likely that some other mechanism is responsible for brittleness.

If excessive heat is causing issues then you may want to consider using a temperature sensitive material such as Tempilaq. It changes colour at different temperatures to indicate a heat limit has been reached.

This may help you tune in your process.

This application appears to be a possible candidate for induction heating. The carbon block can be heated using this process in a controllable manner which can therefore prevent overheating. Without further information as regards size etc. it would be difficult to suggest a suitable machine capacity.
