drying after hydro test

06/20/2008 1:15 AM

How can i calculate the capacity of air dryer needed to dry the inner surface of 48" pipeline of 1000 m after disposal of the test water?

The air at the end of the line must be minus 1 degree C dew point. The ambient temperature shall be 50 degrees C max.

What is the capacity of the compressor to deliver air, the capacity of air dryer, is any need for cooler after compressor. Maximum time for drying the line 48" of 1000 m shall be two days.

Thank you for your responses.

contact http://www.bjservices.com/website/pps.nsf.

To get a quick number, take line volume 41000 ft^3 dive by time require to get 14 CFM minimum for displacement. Then look at 3 ft/min minimum for rate times arae of pipe (12.56^2) to get for 38 CFM. Take highest value and multiply by safety factor of 3 or more depending on geometry of line. If it goes up and down hills, a safety factor of 6 is better.

The air being used to dry will have to be run through mole sieves to get -30 C air first.

line is horizontal with horizontal loops, therefore, I shall take safety factor 3. Thank you.
