Equipment design and Selection

I have to write a report on Equipment Selection for our Sugar Refinery. It includes among other items:Vacuum Pan, Strike receiver,Steam Turbine, heat exhanger, Pumps, Gearbox, Dryer Screw Conveyor etc. I need material(documents or tutorial) that could guide on fundamental principles of equipment design and selection.

Normally, the designer must issue the technical spec. for this equipments.
