CO2 Recycling

09/01/2006 9:06 AM

I use CO2 to cool meat in one of the processes at work. At present we are exhausting to atmosphere.
I was talking to a friend who works in a brewery and he was saying that they have some sort of system that purifies the CO2 that comes from the brewing process and pumps it back into their CO2 tanks for use else where. Does anyone know a manufacturer for such a plant? Thanks!

Check Praxair. They supply various gases and can make specialty systems if your usage warrants.

For years a brewery in Denmark has had a direct pipeline to the local Coca-Cola plant. The problem is this only delays the release to the atmosphere. What we need is a process that will convert the CO2 into a useful solid (carbohydrates, wood, plastic...) to keep it out of the atmosphere for longer periods.

Plants can't live without CO2. Hence, some amount of CO2 is not bad. Excess CO2 is the Global warming concern.

CO2 can be trapped by CaO or lime and Calcium Carbonate is the end product.

CO2 is a good fire fighting gas. It can be used almost on all types of fires. Hence CO2 can be directly packed into cylinders and it can be sold for money.
