Hey guys i have got a shift map for a vehicle. Its a plot of TPS(throttle position sensor) vs vehicle speed. I just dont know how to interpret this stuff. need some hints .........
Shift at the optimum point? usually take a look at your torque curves for that, otherwise, how do you know where your foot is, besides on the throttle?
Most people get a shift ligHt and set it to come on at a specific RPM
The problem here is, what load is the engine on while your running it at those speeds?
Is it Road Speed or Engine Speed?
Or are you trying to read the mapping from a ECU/Injection computer like a Haltech/Motech/Autronic/whatever ? then it would be the fuel delivery injection time for every step in that RPM or Load range.

Agreed, I would think that a Torque map would be better use, as when the torque curve rolls off, you change gear to utilise the better part of the torque generated by the engine, and changing the gears in relation to torque, you'll generally still be not hitting the rev limit, as at that point the torque is either flattened off or dieing. with your engine following soon after
