vibro conveyor power

06/25/2008 5:31 AM

Electrical engineer speaking.

How do I calculate the power output in watts of horizontal vibrating conveyors.

I know the material movement in kg/metre/secs - how do I convert please?

What type of conveyor? The power requirement depends on the device cinematics, own mass, frequency aso...

Not enough data.

In general manufacturers of such conveyors give the support to potential users in making the choice for the customer based on own know how and empirical values.

THe conveyor is a soild metal shute that is vibrated by a magnet that is switched on and off at 30Hz, the speed of the conveyor is controlled by the power applied to the magnet i.e. more power gives more movement, full power is a 4mm stroke.

We know the electrical power consumption of the units and need to know the power output in watts to determine the overall efficiency. We can compare existing conveyors from their electrical inputs when run at the same output speed in kgs/ metre/seconds but when a new supplier says his conveyor is more efficient (without documentation to prove it) we cannot quantify this until we have purchased a unit and run product on it.
