Autodesk Inventor - Screw joint

06/25/2008 11:00 PM

I have made a simple screw and nut assembly using autodesk inventor and I am trying to make a dynamic simulation. How do I restrict the motion of the screw rod so that it doesnt come completely out of the nut?

It restrict the joint automatically, but if you change any part later of it, it lost the restriction and you must to do it manually, like regular restrictions... usually I do the joints manually for dynamic simulations, there are less errors...

If you have the centrelines of the 2 parts constrained to each other they will stay concentric. The length of travel can be set in the animation command, you start with say, a flush constraint on the ends of the 2 parts then specify the length of travel before the motion either stops or reverses.
