Construct a Ballast for Saving Energy Lamp

06/26/2008 5:53 AM

Contribute another circuit for ballast of a saving energy lamp:

more and more people like to use saving energy lamp, Let me show you a ordinary circuit for your maintaining services.

you can also diy by yourself in your vocation. it can be suit for tube or circle or spiral type lamp.

mybe you hve more simple one, even dont use any transistors.

Re: Construct a ballast for saving energy lamp

Hello cnpower

Thank you for your schematic circuit of the electronic ballast of a small fluorescent lamp.

Just a few thoughts, from a circuits constructor.....

In more than 50 years of constructing radio and electronic equipment, the most frustrating parts are inductors and transformers, without sufficient details being provided.

A Part or Reference Number along with the Maker's Catalogue Number is good.

Details of wire sizes, number of turns, core type (E/I/Toroid) and the iron core cross-sectional area is a help, for those trying to make the inductor/transformer, are even better.

Not everyone has availability to Radio Shack, or the Designer's Supplier, so some constructors just have to make their own inductors/transformers.

Resistors are best to have wattages attached.

Transistors, Diodes and semiconductors should have the actual part numbers attached.

Capacitors should have the Voltage attached.

Heat Sinks, if required in the circuit, should have details added.

Generally the best way is to have the circuit, with R1, R2, R3... - C1, C2, C3... T1, T2, T3... and so on, clearly labelled in the schematic circuit, with the full parts list below, including any special manufacturers details in that parts list.

Transformers or inductors should have details added, so that if at all possible, the home builder may make the Transformer or Inductor at the home workbench.

The type of layout in the various publications available at ARRL headquarters, is quite good, also the

RSGB Radio Communications Handbook

Just my thoughts, from having been rather frustrated many times, over the years.

Please don't accept this as criticism of your fine efforts, just trying suggestions to make things easier for experimenters.

Kind Regards....

hehe, learnt so much from your words.

This made me though of many mny years ago when we were middle school. read such magzines.

But in the cr4room, most of readers are engineers level, at least graduated from colleges, not from middle school. they can judge which prts will be used.

oh I really forgot to put turns of core ito pic. here it is

L:Φ1Omm x 25 mm;310N。 T1:8mm ring core,(W1,W2 all 12N pay attation to direction);T2,Φ8一Φ10mm,coreW3,W4 all 2N,W5,8N

Hello again, cnpower

Thank you for your explanation above, but there appears to be a translation problem, or a gremlin somewhere.

L:Φ1Omm x 25 mm;310N。 T1:8mm ring core,(W1,W2 all 12N pay attation to direction);T2,Φ8一Φ10mm,coreW3,W4 all 2N,W5,8N

That's what your last line looks like on my PC, on the CR4 Forum.

This next is Copy/Pasted from the CR4 Forum, and appears to have automatically split itself into two separated sentences....:

L:Φ1Omm x 25 mm;310N。 T1:8mm ring core,(W1,W2 all 12N pay attation to direction);T2,Φ8一

Φ10mm,coreW3,W4 all 2N,W5,8N

I'm using Firefox Browser v3.0 (The Latest Version of Firefox).

Just thought you should know.

Kind Regards....

hehe I hve less compter skill, I dont know what take place. Maybe some chinese code in it to affect your firefox. but it will not distroy any compter. no virus.

Hi cnpower,

I have the same problem as Sparkstation.

In addition: if you are engineer and are eager to size coils and transformers you will design your own circuit. But, if you are too lazy to design and decide to use a ready-made schematic you will try to bypass sizing...

The right lamp is the lamp that poor man speaking wordily in the Congress.

Manypeople use it in the world at present, most of them are produced in China. in fact it has same structure as T-series tube, only very thin and make in shape of spiral to reduce size.

because it uses electronic ballast, so it can save energy more than that Tube type.

it has more than 0.8 power factor.

another one simple,

hehe, I advise you add a filter like the first one, in order that it cannt act as a small radio station.
