Measuring Temperature for a Concrete Slab

06/27/2008 1:19 PM

I am working as project manager on one of the high-rise construction site in Toronto, Canada. we are looking for a option to have a self leveling underlayment on concrete slabs. As per our schedule this work will be falling in winter season. and it is a requirment to have temprature not less then 6 deg. C.

My question is how to measure temprature for newly poured and perfectly harded concrete slab? It is my understanding that room tempraturer not necessarly be a temprature of slab.

Please advice.

I went to the Maxxon site and all I could find was fluid mixes that were poured over (overlaid)the old floor and levelled like a bathtub full of water, they harden and = new level floor.

There are measuring devices call Temperature Loggers that are installed into the concrete when it is poured. You utalize a data collector which may be connected to the loggers by means of two wires. You could have as many loggers as you deem necessary, all at different locations, anywhere you want, each give an independent temperature reading for as long as 3 day updated every 15 minutes. Each logger can be reset as many as 50 times, each would be a seperate set of readings. They also give the ambient temp as well. The information is displayed on various charts (excell type). It's an excellent tool. You should contact http://engius.com/index.html for further information. I do not work for this Company. I use them every day for tracking of Bostons Ma. "OTHER TUNNEL" a 17 foot diameter concrete precast tunnel linning we are manufacturing.

The best to you
