smoke vision

can we see through smoke in fire accident to extinguish fire ? because smoke drops the visibility to an extent that one cann not see and hinder the fire fighter.

Ok I realize that this is most likely one of those automated postings but I will reply anyways.

The answer to the question is yes we can see through smoke in a fire accident. Fire Departments have been using handheld IR cameras for years now.

i have used ir cam, a night vision but in smoke it could not show beyond smoke...i dont know why?

I would have to look up the specifics but IR emitters that are used in CCTV applications work at a different wave lenght than the IR sensors used to view thermal gradients which are then processed to create a picture.

I love using wikipiedia.org and would recommend that you review the information that they have on file, it is much more organized and informative than I can be.

thanks for reply but what wave length of IR can show through smoke? in which part is it used? i want to see just in a room of about 10 meter having fire, what would and from where i mean from which instrument can i take this to make my job?
