This site has a load of maint. schedules based on engine usage. Hope this helps. My personnel advice is Synthetic lube filters, and oversize air filters, and fuel filters. With the dust conditions, you must be very careful about keeping all openings sealed. Oil funnels, oil containers, fuel tanks, and especially air inlets. Good luck.

CAT specifies Lube oil change schedule you can call your CAT dealer But you can check Viscosity and carbon content your self and decide my experience is between 500 hours to 1000hours depending upon above parameters if you an afford a centrifugal separator for lue boil you can definitely extend the oil as well as engine life CAT has condition monitoring scheme for their engine lube oil which will give a better option for lube oil change the CAT dealer would assist you

I agree....If the unit is out of warranty and you want to extend the life of the oil..why not do some trending and then you know the dust load at certain hours. Also how do you remove old oil and replace it with new...if not done correctly you will be just putting dust into the system. In this you are asking about the engine lube, BUT if you are in dusty conditions what about the rest of the machine's lubrication points dust will shorten the life of the pins and bushes if not correctly done.

Your maintenance intervel would be best scheduled by fuel consumed and not accumilated hours. I am over a large drilling contractors maintenance shop in Mexico and would be happy to send you recomended maintenance schedules. Please send your e-address and I'll forward your information and help with any other questions you have. emdmechanic@hotmail.com

You need to have a good lube oil analysis lab and undertake your engine oil analysis like viscosity, carbon content, water content, and metals which will tell you when to change the oil use New oil parameters as a reference point i had run the engines for more than 8000 hours, much depends on how you operate the engine ,quality of fuel you use and type of Lube oil and fuel filters you use.if you centrifuge your fuel and lube oil it will have positive effects on your engine maintenance schedule in terms of $s saved its up to engine owners to decide the issue. Most of the engine manufacturers offer scheduled oil sampling and advice when to change the oil for a nominal fee.

There are many different lubebrication companies in the market place today. As, stated earlier it is of the upmost to use one which will provide you with monthly free oil analyisis and one which uses an indepent lab for your results. The more tests a lab will run the better off your oil results will be thus allowing better protection for your engines. The one I found best is a company called Texas Refinery Corp. . They offer all the testing on my engines at no charge and give me a history on them each month. I'm currently running between 3000 -3500 hours on their oil in my 3512's.Don't know if this will help anybody but with the cost of everyting anything can't hurt.

Keep turning to the right
