International conduit fittings

07/01/2008 3:40 PM

This is a question for all of CR4's international electrical know-it-alls!

Our company, based in the good ol' US of A, manufactures a product which attaches to a domestic (or commercial, for that matter) electrical circuit breaker box. To that end, the power wires in our unit break out of the unit's enclosure via a flexible conduit fitting.

Now we're developing an international version so we can inflict electronic CIA mind control provide our fabulous product to our cousins overseas. The question we have is...do all you foreign countries out there use the same conduit fitting dimensions that we do? That is, will the conduit fitting that's attached to our enclosure mate up with flex conduit everywhere else? Or do y'all stubbornly insist on using some sort of devilish metric stuff?

Our unit is tamper resistant so getting inside the enclosure to turn off the psychic scrambler change the conduit fitting will be highly difficult and not recommended if you know what's good for you. So we'd like to get it right the first time.

In all seriousness...a little help here please? Thanks!

So supplying 2 meters of that plastic conduit and some fittings is a bit much? (value added)

Well, no. We could of course do that. But again, to do that we'd still need to know something about non-US fitting types and sizes.

For example, what is commonly used in England? Would they be the same as are used in Spain? Australia? How about South Korea? Or Taiwan?

you might need to get an adjustable metric wrench which can be purchased in any country...
