Looking for a material testing lab in the USA

07/01/2008 4:54 PM

Anyone know of a material testing lab that has the capability to test galvanized (hot dipped) sheet metal to determine chemical composition, corrosive impurities, coating mil, etc.?

I will need an evaluation to determine the elemental presence of anything other than the expected oxides of iron, zinc or aluminum. I specifically looking for any corrosive contaminants and to verify material and coating application meets ASTM requirements.

The use of an EDS (energy dispersive spectroscopy) or similar technology would provide me the proper analysis to compare to test results received from the material manufacture / provider.

I am experiencing a corrosion issue that the manf / provider has tested and sent the results to me. I would like a third party analysis to confirm the findings.

Any info would be appreciated - Name, Location, capability, accuracy, accreditation, etc.

You may post here or e-mail me.

THANX!!

I used this company extensively on a steel mill startup until I could develop inhouse capabilities. Their work was of sufficient quality to prevail in sevral disputes with major OEMS.

All contact info is on the home page here.

Thanks PW - They list an EDS on their site which is what I need for an accurate comparison.
