when we lift some weight by hollow bar and by solid bar of same dia. it is found that solid bar will bend but not hollow bar.why?

Are the bars of the same material?

Obviously a solid rubber bar will bend before a hollow steel bar.

The reason is that this is a homework question posed by some nummynut teacher who never practiced engineering a day in his life.

Why not register and ask some questions here?
