Hello Guest,

You need to advise some further details.

Add to the RAM size and speed, as requested above by Roger Pink the following:

  1. Speed of CPU
  2. Hard Drive size in GB
  3. Available space on Hard Drive, because to instal Software takes generally twice as much as the finished Software program requires
  4. Age of Hard Drive
  5. Laptop age if different.
  6. Was Vista home premium on the Laptop computer from the manufacturer?
  7. Is it an "upgraded" Operating System to Vista, if so, from what earlier Operating System?
  8. Do you have the proper Administrator Rights?
  9. Do you have the proper Windows Keycode?
  10. Perhaps there is Security Software, like ZoneAlarmPro, on the Computer, which prevents you installing the Software, unless you are the Administrator.
  11. Further useful information - Advise please

If you are unsure about most of the above, and don't know how to locate the answers, and can still access the Internet from that Laptop, go to http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html

Download and run that Belarc Advisor program, which will give you a report on your Laptop.

The Belarc Advisor is free, no Malware or Adware, and gives a report with details required.

Copy and paste the results here, and you may be assisted.

Reply here, with

Kind Regards....

Additional information required:

  1. Have you contacted the producer of the software which will not install? There is a lot of software out there which has still not been upgraded to run on Vista. Early versions of MathCad will simply not install on Vista.
  2. Exactly what error message do you get when you try to install?
  3. All the other information requested by other contributers.

If it is an issue with Vista and you want to retain Vista for other reasons, then you could partition your hard drive and install XP on one partition and Vista on the other. I assume your versions of Matlab and oCad run under XP OK.

I had to upgrade MS Office, MathCad and AutoCad for my new laptop which runs Vista, so you are not the first to hit this problem.

Only the newest version of Matlab is Vista compatible; I just installed it last week. As far as I know MathCAD is completely compatible. I also have Vista premium.

Is it just an install error you get? As mentioned above more info is required.
