Electrical design software.

07/08/2008 8:04 AM

I am looking for available software options to carry out electrical network analysis, design and detailed engineering for electrical power systems in a petroleum refinery for various operating conditions. This includes load flow calculations, short circuit studies, sizing of electrical equipment etc.

Shall be thankful to receive information on this.

SKM Powertools. I have used a number of programs (at the direction of clients or others) and have not found any other that is so powerful and easy to use. All of these programs have bugs but SKM will actually give you some help when you find one.

We use ETAP in the Nuclear industry for these functions.

To use these, you would have to write your own matrices -- guaranteed to have embedded errors. And the testing to make sure it gives the correct results with distant, weak sources will take a while.
