Vavcuum Pump Maintenance/Repair

07/09/2008 10:15 AM

We have a client who has requested that we arrange or carry out preplanned maintenance on a medical vacuum pump.

We have contacted the manufacturer who is to say the least unhelpful.

Does any one in our wide community have maintenance requirements and relevant manuals etc for----

Meditech Vacuum Pump Type V20022 CCC

Thanks for reading

Understandable. Perhaps the manufacturer wanted the maintenance contract!

Is this just a small suction pump with a handle and a suction canister of some sort mounted on a base?

Watch you don't get caught on this one! As far as I know, at least in Canada, in order to perform any work on any"medical" rated equipment, you must be certified to do so.

Usually such certification is garnered through the manufacturer by way of OEM training courses or some such process. At a minimum some sore of trade certification as a "medical equipment technician" should be needed.

Assuming the device has certification from a Certification Body recognized as such, your working on it could void its certification and leave you with a possible liability issue.

FWIW... check this issue out before proceeding.
