You can try to develop ball and socket joint made of steel used to replace fractured hip joint / femur bone. I suggest, the stem which has the ball on one end should fit in fractured thigh bone of any size, I mean hollow inside of the bone.

Good luck to you Please let me know if you succeed in designing such a joint..

How about some means of determining/reporting implant fatigue conditions and bone stress fracture condition s (Microcracks) as a resultant of the implanted device.

Development of optimum geometry coatings and materials to minimize debris generation by the implanted device as it wears, while minimizing bacterial harbor.

Better means of attachment that minimizes future loosening and less modification ofthe mating bone at the interface.

These are issues that need to be solved from the patients quality of life point of view.

If your field is just how to make the damn things, then how to successfully tapping titanium would be a wonderful addition to our knowledge as engineers.

Good answer milo.

As a recipient of a couple orthopedic implants, these and other issues related to materials of construction are definitely issues that need to be addressed by the manufacturers.

What in the hell are you trying to say . . . so there are better clue as to how, and to what objective, you can be guided?

As the OP reads, you seem to be attending a school or school program with only one student: you, yourself. You are thinking of deserting the school/program but, before you do . . . there is this start-up manufacturing concern that works with students and/or student-owned companies. You and your company, who have been working with or hope to work with the start-up company, owns and uses [the listed] equipment which you use to produce "orthopedic medical tools" (whatever these might be); so you want guidance from CR4 as to when to leave school in order to work full time at your company and in support of the manufacturer.

Is this really what you're asking for?
