Removing fiber from processed tea leaves

09/15/2006 11:35 AM

Processed fermented tea leaves have lots of fibers with tea grains and removal of fiber by static charge methond looks less efficient. Any way to improve the process?

Actually good tea should not have fibers so they need to be removed. Fibers form nearly 50% of the volume. These discarded fibers are also useful in other products such as cosmetics items. In India they have rule to burn the fiber, but do not know why they insist on wasting this useful raw material.

Idea was to separate the fiber from tea grains and make tea grains free from unwanted fibers.

this cannot be done cheaply. Any water based method would extract the tea essences. You can dry them and them beat the fibers out.

Remember, the essence of tea is soluble, yet it does noi=t make good instant tea powder. The taste is horrible.

As for burning, india is overpopulated and they do not want to use it for landfill.

They should compost the old tea leaves and make ricj soil for deserts ares.
