PROTECTING EXISTING UNDERGROUNG MV CABLES

07/20/2008 1:41 AM

I M WORKING IN A FERTILIZER PLANT.

As per plan, bagging line truck load area is being extended to accommodate more truck and more space for truck movements. For the said reason, Fence in front of truck loading area is shifting towards Utilities side approx, 60 feet. Road shall be constructed at all over gravel area.

Just beside the fence, there is gravel area where a lighting Transformer and DB is located.

As per plan lighting Transformer and DB are also to be shifted towards Utilities side approx, 60 feet.

There is 13.8kv Cable trench ( Uty. to Bagging) also passing through under this gravel area as per drawing (not protected with sleeves) .

The portion of trench that is under road , is protected with sleeves as per drawing.

I need any internationlstandard ( IEC or NEMA) that provides guidance regarding ' MV Cables Road Crossing " if available in ur company.

And is it possible to protect existing unprotected portion of cable trench under gravel area before road construction ? , Remember heavy loaded trucks shall park or move over it.

Hi..

Let me tell you some thing about your issue.

You please contact any site supervisor/engineer(electrical) working in electrical contracting company under electricity department in your area, and just offer him that, I have some thing for you.. no need to explain many things, take him to the location and show him the existing and proposed arrangements. Then, don't forget to give something what you offered him.

Best wishes.
