Glass "of the common type" is not a composite. Sometimes you see windows with wire molded into the glass. Safety glass has a layer of plastic sandwiched between two layers of glass. These are composites but probably not what you are talking about. Can you be more specific? Define FRP.
FRP is Fiber Reinforced Plastic; it is what a lot of parts on automotive vehicles are made of these days.. The entire Corvette body is FRP (or a more recent derivative thereof).. We typically call these parts 'fiberglass' or 'plastic'... (Corvettes have not been made from 'fiberglass' since the early 80's ? when the body parts were changed from Fiberglass to FRP.
and may devolopments are taking place in this field . Since the resins and mats used here does not match with the refreactive index of glass , it is not easier to make. But if glass can be mase from FRP it will be a relief to automobile sector because almost 30% of the body is made up of glasses and it is very acciden prone.
Glass could be reinforced with fibers such as graphite but the glass will not retain its primary desireable property (transparency) unless the fibers used are transparent, colorless, and possess the same index of refraction at all visible wavelengths of light as the glass matrix in which it is embedded. To date, no such fibers exist (except glass- but glass fibers in a glass matrix is equivalent to monolithic glass). The closest industry has come to the composite you are seeking is the aforementioned safety glass.
