El Chupacabra Captured!

08/30/2005 10:53 AM

A Texas man claims that he has caught el chupacabra, the legendary goat sucker of Mexico. Reggie Lagow was having problems with some of his chickens and turkeys getting killed and laid out traps and caught something that looks like a cross between a hairless dog and a kangaroo. He has handed it over to Texas Parks and Wildlife.

Not very threatening

I guess I thought El Chupacabra would be a bit more frigthening (not that I really believed it existed). So is this really El Chupacabra? Is it a new species? Is it a hoax? Who knows? It is interesting that Lagow turned the corpse over to Parks and Wildlife, so it's probably not something he sewed together.

Yeah - El Chupacabra looks more like a gentle, skittish Taco Bell dog than anything else. I think it's just a smokescreen so we will all stop asking questions about Karl Rove. No, wait - that already happened.

I wish there was more information on the size of it. I would laugh though if the fearsome El Chupacabra turns out to be a previously unknown type of Chiwawa.

Absolutists

08/30/2005 12:06 PM

I hope that the captured critter is a new species - even it's not El Chupacabra. It will be fun to watch the absolutists battle over whether such a discovery supports "evolution" or "intelligent design".

That depends on whether or not "God" likes goats.

The Beast of Glyndon

A few years back they thought there was some new critter here in Maryland, turned out to be a fox with mange...I would bet this is going to be the same. http://home.fuse.net/rschaffner/Glyndon%20Creature %20Compilation.pdf#search='the%20beast%20of%20Glyn don

If you look at the video of the fox with mange it looks WAY different than this. They did have an animal that looks like this shot near the beginning of the year; DNA tests were inconclusive. If this one matches up with the last one though they will have a definitive new species though.

El Chupacapra

09/01/2005 10:53 AM

I hope for the farmer's sake it is just a deformed dog. If it is a rare and endangered species, he could lose his farm.

Struth. Haven't any of you Hyper intelligent people ever seen a Kangaroo before? It looks about 1 year old and as harmless as a savage turtle. Ask the Farmer if the 60's were good for him? LSD was very common back then. Cheers
