Resistance Welding application for an Alpha Alumina coated metal (possibly it's alpha alumina coated steel).

Is it possible to use that type of coated metal in resistance welding applications?

Resistance welding, basically is the joining of two or more metals by use of electric current (electrodes pass a low voltage, high current signal through the two pieces needed to be joined, with proper pressure - force, at the electrodes' point of contact on the work piece, the metal being joined).

Resistance Welding is the technology used in automotive facilities to "put the car together". Spot welding as it is sometimes referred to.

I've never encountered alpha alumina coated metals. So, I'm not sure of it's resistivity to current flow.

Would alpha alumina coated metal be comparable to aluminum?

We were using copper clad wolfram electrod tips while joining the parts both made of copper. I think u can going on using copper electrod tips for welding the materials you mentioned since copper's conductivity is bigger than aluminium.
