Explosion proof wash down motor

08/05/2008 11:14 AM

I'm trying to find a source for an explosion proof wash down motor - 1/2 horse power, 1750 RPM, 56C frame, 460/3/60 - motor will be subjected to low pressure wash down with a mild detergent.

If it's explosion-proof [EEx d] then it will be IP55 or greater, which is no problem as far as the detergent is concerned.

In which part of the world is this motor to be used?

Does it matter if the terminal box is increased safety [EEx e] instead?

Good afternoon PWSlack,

The motors will be located in the United States. What we are looking for is the ability to have both explosion proof and wash down. We have not been able to find a source that can provide both in the same motor.

Thanks,

tom

Actually there are thousands of these pump. All sanitary sewer pumps in the US are built this way. Also a mining supply pump wilol work. The list above seems to be a good start.

We get washdown motors of that very same specification at:

NORD GEAR Corporation - $113 each.

US Bearing and Drives also carries them for - $259 each. These are made by Baldor.

Take your pick.

We carry XP hazardous location motors up to 5 HP. You can see the specifications and tables for NEMA and IEC frames at our site under the Hazardous Location (XP) Series motors product. We're glad to help you with any questions.
