What is the thread profile for "MGHT"

08/06/2008 8:28 AM

Dear All,

I know MGHT means "Male Garden Hose Thread" but could any one advise the detailed thread profile?

I guess MGHT is a standard for Garden hose fittings so 1/2" BSP is different from 1/2" MGHT.

Hope someone could help me by offing the thread profile, thanks.

My measurements show 1" x 11.5 threads. But MGHT is straight thread, as opposed to the tapered thread used in pipe work.

My Machinery's Handbook lists male garden hose fittings as .75-11.5 NH or NHR (NH is formed by cutting or rolling. NHR is formed using thin walled tubing, like a brass garden hose fitting.) NHR has a pitch of .08696, Basic Thread Height of .05648, Major Diameter of 1.0520-1.0350, Pitch Diameter of 1.0100-.9930, Maximum Minor Diameter of .9495. NH has a pitch of .08696, Basic Thread Height of .05648, Major Diameter of 1.0625-1.0455, Pitch Diameter of 1.0060-.9975, Maximum Minor Diameter of .9495. (All dimensions in inches.)

I hope this helps.
