The first step would be to give a few more details:

  • What are you looking to store? At what temperature? At what pressure?
  • What volume do you need to store?
  • Hopefully it doesn't need to be a double wall tank?
  • Is a flat-bottomed vessel situated on the ground going to work? Or is it to be designed on stilts with a hemispherical bottom?
  • Does it need a roof?
  • Where are you located?
  • Do you know what applicable codes must be followed in your location?
  • Are you familiar with the following codes: API 650, API 620, ASME BPVC?

Thanks for reply.

For example i have to design on 200 ton diesel storage tank,it should be flat bottom and conical fixed roof .So how can i start to design.I am not using any software. Will I be able to design ?let me to follow API 650.Now how can i start ???step wise?which data are required for basic design?

Let me know after getting basic data which steps are to follow ?if any typical example with calculation then let me know?

Thanks
