It sounds like the A/C unit has a short. This is very dangerous.

First: unplug the unit.

Drain the drip pan. Clean and dry the whole device

Make sure the thermistor is not touching anything metal. Have the A/C unit checked for shorts.

If the only shorts was caused by the moisture, the next thing is to make sure the drip pan has a drain. If it already has a drain , make sure it is not clogged, and the pan is level or leaning slightly towards the drain. If it does not, install a drain that drains outside your house.

Yes - there's no reason why you should be accumulating enough water that it's getting picked up and slung about. Make sure you have proper drainage.

I have had the problem of excess water, this is due to a build up of algae on the cooler where water condensates, and the algae runs down and partial blocks the drain. Use a anti algae hand spray at the in let, if the algae has built up over time the excess algae off the cooler will at first restrict the drain, and water will build up in the tray. A few treatment and the problem disappears, at least it did for me. Hope it helps.

normally its a mold and the best cleaner is chlorox and a bottle brush. Then evry month add a cup of chlorox in the drain pan. (the chlorox isn't 100%, but 25% chlorox solution.)

Hi; I hope I can help you with this! I have been working on units for 10 years. I have seen alot of problems. Check your filter, It sounds like it is wanting to freeze. Check the freon also, it could be low. Check your stat to see if it is actually coming on and going off at desire temp. Check the A-coil to see if it is blocked by reading the suction pressure on the gauges. Check your house for humidity coming in. Check your condensate line for blockage by pulling the hose off and seeing how much water is really coming out. The line or the trap and the hole could be clogged up. Check to see if your vents are all opened up stairs. The main problem sounds like there is a air problem and the condensate line is partially blocked. The fuses are blowing due to the water coming down onto the circuits and also rusting out the furnance. Try and read 20 degrees different from the supply duct and the return duct by measuring with a thermometer. I know there is probally things that you can't check, but you have a general ideal.
