Techno-wraps used for Offshore Piping protection

08/15/2008 8:39 AM

Hello All, I'm looking for technical information on Techno-wraps used for Offshore Piping protection. We have a couple of leaking or near failure crude pipelines that we thought we couple clamped, but a vendor brought in the techno-wrap material and says it could pass for similar protection application. I'm sceptical about the information and pressure limits. I would like some understandings of the materials from whoever has prior experience. Thanks

Technowraps are widely used in the Oil & gas Industry by all the major operators such as Shell & BP, and may well do your job well.

However you need to understand why your pipe is failing - putting a wrap on it may stop the localised leak but not the ongoing failure mode which could lead to rupturing later upstream or downstream of your local fix.
