this is a lincoln australia machine. The wiring diagram of the American 400 machine will not help. Ask Lincoln Australia direct together with machine name plate information

Hello Taufik, Reply Lincoln 400 AS 50 Diagram sorry i don't have one but have repaired many in past, keep in mind the exciter (smaller stater) is the most likely cause (no volt/arc) as this is the point where power is generated first. If welder has not been in used for a long period of time then the field coils at exciter need to be energized this can be done by simple use of a 12 volt car battery, place a lead across exciter 2 x field coils in series for a secound or two this creates an EMF ( mag/field ) that the armature will then cut to make volts that is controled by knob/volts at control panel then sent to larger field coils in large stator.

note 1. this procedure is for DC exciters, AC excieter have a 2 or 4amp charging board behind name plate where a bridge rectifire converts it to DC at this point the series field can be enegized it is common for that board and rectifire to be faulty.

Note 2. 400 AS Lincoln AC exciters have 2 batteries 24volt in build engine starter winding. 400 AS with DC exciters have a single battery with a starter motor.

Hi Craneman, I have a similar problem with the 24 volt Australian welder, we do have a little current at the 240 power point, about 40 volts and only tiny sparks at the welding electrode, but she just will not pick up voltage. Could I try an excite with 24volt dc on the battery charger end ? appreciate your help Mate !
