You just bring the cable catalogue and look into the various tables of current rating. You may not then required to even calculate - no botheration Dear.
There a number of variables that enter into current rating of a conductor. Environment ,temperature, cable in air, conduit, underground etc, how many conductors are in the conduit, copper or AL and others. If you check the table at this location it will give you the ampacity of conductors at the temperature and other variables listed at the top of the chart.
depends on the conditions of usage and the lenght of cable ,the limiting factor is the raise in the operating temp. of the cable .
Work backwords:
you need to know the max current, type of load i.e high initial current surge etc. ,the lenght and the conditions of installations i.e cable groupings ,underground or clipped on wall etc and refer to the cables rating tables eg IEE cable ratings .
