Plastics

HELP! We're in the process of manufacturing a line of cleaning Supplies (Mops, Brushes, etc...) & we're trying to accumulate as much info on Plastic as possible? Can anyone tell me if there is a General Plastic Association available? Also, what is the best reference or references to learn about the different types of plastics available? Different types of processes? I need help bad. I was hired under the impression that I knew a lot about Plastics & Plastic Manufacturing already!

We're interested in hiring a consultant that can visit our facility & educate our employees on Plastic, Manufacturiring Proceses, Mold Processes, etc....

We'd like to visit a Factory & observe the different Manufacturing Processes.

You could download a lot of complete information,i think much more than in "materials science" books :look for 1)Bayer;2)SABIC (geplastics);3)SOLVAY;4)Vespel (Du Pont);5)Philips Plastics Corporation.I don't rememember the asociation sites but it commonly appears in this search.

SPE, as mentioned is a great source to buy books on the subject. You can also join ides.com (it's free) or google different material suppliers. Contact me, if you are interested and I can give you a few names of consultants that specialize in this type of work. They all have degrees and have worked in the industry over 25 years for Fortune 50 companies developing, designing and manufacturing all types of products.

Email me at: plastic.molds@usa.net

There are different manufacturing processes to consider. Where I work we utilize rotary compression molding for small parts. there is rumor of switching to injection molding in the near future.
