I suggest working on something with alternative fuels -

perhaps doing an independent study on the HHO (Brown's gas) addition into automobiles, or even testing the increased mileage with acetone theory.

I made a tracking solar parabolic accumulator this year. But it was a pain adjusting the parabolic dish to follow the sun up and down with the seasons. My low tech tracking had to be exactly right too (another pain). If a parabolic dish is slightly pointing off the target (the sun) then it scatters the light all over the place. You could do the same thing with a compound parabolic dish. In this case, same focal point, just a 15 or 30 degree acceptance angle. With this, as long as it is within 15 or 30 degrees of being correct, all the light is directed either at or behind the focal point. and this is where you put your cooking pot. Then no need to track so accurately or to exactly point at the sun either. Such a project would show your knowelege and skill at problem solving. Brian

I saw a suggestion once to build a solar tracker out of a propane tank (Note: don't use propane in the tank, the system will leak. You need a low boiling point liquid that is not harmful to the environment.) and two used pneumatic cylinders. You put a cylinder on each side plate positioned to shade one cylinder. Heat from the sun raises pressure in the lighted cylinder; shade allows the other to cool. This transfers fluid from the propane tank to the cool cylinder until the amount of sun on each is the same. At that time, the plate will be pointing toward the sun.

The plate is attached to your solar collector so when the plate points toward the sun,the collector is square to the sun.

I am through some lights on this regarding project.You can concentrate power projects such as solarPV and Wind,Wave projects.Why becuase in future all countries going to concentrate nonconventional sources only,the reason behind that global warming.So you try to concentrate power projects.
