24 volt irrigation valve

08/29/2008 5:22 PM

I am looking for a 24 volt 1/2, 3/4 or 1 " valve that opens and closes with a max 2 PSI pressure. Does anyone know if they exist? If so where and at what cost.

Regards, John

www.ascovalve.com

Redhats---

Try this--They have so many different configurations, it's unlikely you won't find what you need.

I'm not sure of your question... You most likely will "not" find a 1/2" RCV (Remote Control Valve) from any irrigation manufacturer. What do you mean a max 2 PSI? What is the application you want to use the RCV for? Do you mean a maximum 2 PSI dynamic pressure loss through the valve under a certain flow condition? If so, I would need to know the total GPM (Gallons Per Minute) intended use going through the valve.

I am going way out on this one---I believe that I have ran into solenoid valves (ASCO) that have operating ranges and some will not change state if a pressure is too high.--

I was working on installing something fairly conventional, and couldn't get the solenoid valve to work--I had picked it out for size and state(NO/NC) and the voltage--and when I troubleshot it for not operating properly, I had found that I was out of it's pressure range.

I am unsure about this--The coil will burn up if the steel of the valve doesn't slide into the coil.

Check ASCO valves.

TeeJet offers solenoid valves used in agriculture close to what you are looking for.

Tractor Supply stocks them.

Have you tried Irritrol? They have regulated solenoid valves that run on 24V. Contact your nearest John Deere Lanscapes and ask them for it. We've never tried using the valves for such a low pressure application so I can't guarantee they will operate as you desire.

Hope this helps

John,

You wrote: "Opens and closes with max 2 psi..."

If it is a pressure operated valve or pilot valve, than what is the 24V for? I strongly suggest you rethink and rephrase your question.

John:

Good posts by our fellow engineers! However, an easy solution is to take a quick trip to your local Home Depot (or Lowe's, etc). They have these valves in stock, for example, this 3/4" IPT, 24VDC pilot-valve, for $11.27 (USD) each.

Best regards,

John

it may sound silly but have tried your local Ace Hardware??? you might be suprised what they can find for you.I would not expect them to stock it, but they could most likely get one.

cheers!
