In an electrical network some motors are mentioned in MVA rating, say example one MVA, 15% imp. What it means. Actually, motor loads are mentioned in kw Or hp. why here is mentioned in MVA? Please clarify it.
Motor rating usually expressed in KW or HP as engraved in the motor name plate, but large motors rated at medium voltages can rather be expressed in per unit values for the purpose of load flow analysis eg. KVA/MVA in addition to the % impedance of such motors to analyse the load flow in the network.
The correspoding KW rating is equal to the KVA rating multiplied by the power factor of the motor as identified by the motor manufacturer.
