09/01/2008 1:54 AM

Dear all,

We have 8 power transformer with spec : 13.8kV/115kV, 28MVA, cooling system OA/FA1/FA1. Date macnufactured 1996 That transformer use nytrogen fill in the tank. Base on our inspection by infra red camera we found 6 transformers were low oil level. Our crew have made sure that all radiator's valve were opened.

Could you please explain to us what root caused probably.

Thanks in advance,

Are the transformers showing low oil level loaded the same as the one showing normal oil level?

What does your level guage show?

If your transformers do indeed have low oil level, it can only mean they were not filled properly from installation, or you have a leak in a bushing, valve, etc..

The transformers must be loaded equally if possible to allow better comparison of IR images.

Hi ekiechle,

Yes, all transformer were showing low oil level. And we thought oil level were on normal level. We have made sure too those radiator's valve already opened.

Level guage doesn't show low oil level. No bushing leakage.

Our crew will add some oil transformer

Should you have any comment please advice

Thanks,

Kuncoro

Hi,

The Oil level gauge (MOG) and the Prism level gauge will give the level oil in the transformer. Any Leakge might have been noticed visually in the Transformer. Low level Oil will activate the alarm also. Thsi also can be identified from the RTCC Panels facia. I don't the understand the requirement for IR camer as all lekages can be visually identified.

If you want to identify the the loaction of lekage then take shut down of the transformer apply soap solution over and identify the where bubble occurs which is the leakage point. This most simpler and effective method.

After identification as a temprory measure apply sealing compound.Call Factory's manufacturing Engineer to do bracing on the lekage point.

N.Suresh
