Grout properties and machine vibration.

09/03/2008 11:03 PM

1. What is the general opinion of grout properties in way of damping vibration?

2. To what degree can grouting influence or dampen machine vibration?

3. Which of the following grout materials is considered to be superior in regards to repair of existing Embeco 636 which has degraded leaving large cracks and large voids?

  • Flow Rock non-shrink grout
  • Epoxy Motar Grout-Sika 42
  • 1107 Advantage Grout
  • Sure-Grip High Performance Grout

4. List the strengths and weaknesses of each of the above.

5. Vibration Isolator is another option.

  • Any comments or opinions reguarding Isolator versus Grout?
  • Any comments or opinions reguarding a 25,000 lbs machine on 2.5 inches of degraded grout and vibration isolators. Solutions?

Small gains have been made by bottom tapping the mounting pads gaining us 6 threads and replacing the short badly worn bolts with longer higher grade bolts. Still looking to shed .22mils.

Go for vibration isolators. They are flexible. Grout isn't. End of story.

For high vibration machine Better to go for Epoxy grouting instead of non-shrink grout.

Epoxy grouting required special care as in case of porisity (Due to trapped bubbles) It may cracks or cause of vibration.

Yes, As said vibration isolator is also a good solution.
