'Paper Presentation....'

This is ambiguous...Do you mean the arrangement of the written document...or are you going to stand in front of an audience and verbally present the paper?

What is the subject of the paper? How long long? What colour paper is it printed on?

Del

I think I know the kind of paper presentation the guest is looking foward to participate in.

You basically start off by selecting a topic of your choice -> You collect resources about that topic and study, understand and learn about it -> You write a report about what you have learnt, in your own words. It is expected that you try to fit it within 20 pages -> You submit this report/paper to the organisers of the paper presentation competition -> If your paper/report is selected, then you will be called upon to give a 10-15 minutes presentation in from of an audience which would include the panel of judges. This presentation is usually accompanied by a powepoint presentation [OpenOffice is not as popular] to illustrate your points. This is what we call as paper presentation till the Third year of Engineering.

The nature of paper presented change a bit in the final year of Engg as you are now expected to present a paper based on your own findings, analysis and conclusions of your final year project

@Guest you may want to consider presenting a paper on virtualization. A few of my freinds had made presentation on this topic

I do agree with DelTheCat your request should be more specific. If you didn't mention your IT status I would rather think you asked CR4 about presentation of paper as production in supposition that any graduate student should be experienced in paper work arrangement.

Even so I do find your request as quite vague as paper production is spreading from light tissue up to heavy carton.

Excuse me, good Sir or Madam,

Are you the same Guest who posted the original question or another guest? I am not trying to be mean. I've only been mean once and that was because Medicare messed up my psych-medications. The problem is that with so many 'Guest's' running about, I don't know who I'm talking to.

Your response was very good, given the information provided; almost as good as Del's. I didn't even understand the question! What does that Guest mean my "Paper Presentation"?

If you are the original Guest who posted the question, and if you are talking about some sort of presentation, and if you have a laptop or C/D - DVD burner, and if your school has a a computer to projector setup, then you want to play with OpenOffice.ORG's Impress or Microsoft's PowerPoint, but Openoffice.ORG's Impress is easier, Open Source and Free.

By the way, when is this presentation due?

You can find OpenOffice.org here.

I sincerely hope this helps.

/Ari (Orpheuse)

Before you start writing, prepare a clear statement of what your presentation will Deliver to the audience. What is in it for them???

Every presentation should have an opening, body, and close.

Avoid unnecessary words.

Do not presume that anyone understands and Technical term or acronym.

Write at the 8th grade level readability score ( you'll find fleischman kinkaid readability in tools in Word)

Use Short sentences.

If you speak in word pictures, then write that way to convey what is in your mind.

One main idea per paragraph.

Tell them what you are going to tell them. Tell them. Tell them what you told them.

KNOW YOUR DARN MATERIAL FRONTWARDS BACKWARDS SIDEWAYS< AND ANTICIPATE Simple 5W2H questions -WHo what when where why how how many. If you don't answer each of these in your work beforehand, You will be embarassed when you are asked.

Find a mentor.

First chance you get join toastmasters international.

Good luck, Guest. Do go ahead and register on this forum so that we can watch your growth as you complete your studies. And, we may have an IT question some day ourselves that perhaps you can answer.

Welcome to CR4.

Great advice Del. I left that out because usually they start off with a corny joke.

Nice touch on the subscripted shrunken font to convey that "word picture" typogrphically.

You're a top cat.

(when you ain't yowling at economists...)

Do you mean :

Describe to them what your going to tell them in the report.

Tell them.

Then remind them of what you told them.

But somehow hold their attention too?

Bring in the clowns !
