First, I'm sorry it took me so long to find your question and get you an answer.

Your question:

For Hydrotesting vent/drain we use sockolet, weldolet , vesselet , bosset , threadolet . Which to use when & why ? If any other fitting pl. let me know?

All things are conditional, by this I mean that "if you have condition A then you do X. And if you have condition B then you do Y."

Now, here is what I have done in my years in the piping field.

If the piping material spec has or allows threaded connections (for small bore piping) then I would include "Thread-O-Lets" in the spec for vents and drains along with other types of branches.

If the piping material spec has or requires sockey-weld connections (for small bore piping) then I would include "Sock-O-Lets" in the spec for vents and drains along with other types of branches.

I do not remember ever using "vesselet , bosset" in a piping spec for vents or drains.

I hope this helps.
