Hello amithwaikar

You have not stated which "motor winding machine" you are talking about, and we are not mind-readers.

Reed switches have flexible reed type contacts inside a sealed glass envelope, wires brought out for connection into a circuit.

The reed switch operates with a permanent magnet approaching, at which time the two internal reeds become magnetised temporarily under the near influence of the permanent magnet, and close quickly together.

On withdrawal or removal of the permanent magnet, the reeds lose the temporary magnetism, and suddenly "flip apart" thus opening the circuit.

Please see the pictures at left.

For further information, refer: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reed_switch

Kind Regards....

Are you sure you need a reed switch ?

If the switch will be used to protect the motorwinding against overheating,

then you need a bimetal switch, not a reed switch.

Better is to use a PTC sensor or PT100.

The temperatuur sensor (mostly 3 pieces in series connected) are located on the warmest spots inside in the motor.

These spots are in the middle of the outside winding on the "winding head".
