Shattered glass door

09/10/2008 3:36 AM

My full length glass door was shattered (possibly by stone being flicked up by lawn mower) Eventually the glass started to break away and it all fell to the outside, with only a tiny amount of glass coming inside. Will glass fall to the side it was broken?

Usually the glass will fall in the direction in which the projectile that broke it was going at the time of incident. A full length door the glass was mostly tempered cracked in little pieces. Tempered glass when quenched causes a bow. If set in the door with bow outward would tend to fall that way. Air pressure changes in your home as some one open a door else where could have blown it to the outside. There are other reasons it could have fell outward instead of in.

Being tempered glass could have shattered due to stresses in the glass.
