Kevlar Bag source

09/14/2008 12:06 PM

Does anyone know of a source for Kevlar bags? We conduct hydrostatic pressure testing. I am looking for a strong bag to place the piece to be tested in that may stand up to potential implosion. This may help to reduce the extensive cleanup involved in the event of an unfortunate failure resulting with an implosion.

AFAIK kevlar reinforced bags are used for lifting weigths [meassured in tonnes] by filling it up with pressurised air. are you looking for one of those? Standard Kevlar Cord Reinforced Lifting Bags

or do you want something made of kevlar inside which you cen place the test object. something like this Chrome Duma, Shuttle laptop bags boost strength with Kevlar. Not sure if this bag posses any industrial-grade strength, considering the news was featured on engadget

another kevlar bag Large Kevlar/Mylar Duffle Bags

Hello atlanticstorm

<"....I am looking for a strong bag to place the piece to be tested in that may stand up to potential implosion.....">

Did you make a typo, and really intend to write "explosion".

The kevlar bag plus other safety requirements may be quite different.

Please reply, with

Kind Regards....

Are you looking for a bag to hold an object that is being subjected to a hydrostatic pressure in a sealed chamber to keep the chamber clean when the object is destroyed?

It maybe you could use a mesh/screen container that is not affected by the pressure that has an opening smaller that the broken pieces. Or use a filter system on the drain.

Salvage some air bags from a junk yard if they meet your size needs. They are made to contain an explosive force.
