Degreasing Electronic Cards

09/15/2008 9:24 AM

Can anyone find me the name of any recommended product for the cleaning purposes (Degreasing,Overhaulling purposes) of the elctronic cards...

Shall i use Thinner Solution for degreasing the Electronic Cards?

It is Observing that during washing with thinner solution some electronic components coated with plastic starts reacting resulting roughness and sometimes its melt the plastic coated components.

No! Do not use thinner!

Virtually all circuit cards are coated and will react with the thinner.

Here are a number of possibilities

Isopropyl alcohol

Many other chemicals specifically designed to clean circuit boards.

Soap and water, with proper drying afterwards.

Mostly I use "white spirit"(*) and a soft brush to clean Printed Circuit Boards. It does not harm plastics and doesn't fade colors. It dissolves grease and dirt. After repairing don't forget to spray a suitableprinted circuit laquer on it.

Good luck !

(*) not sure if this name is known in English

White spirits will dissolve any laqueur based coatings on a circuit card. Not recommended!

Make sure power is cut off.I've used WD-40 or mineral spirits with a gentle brushing like Europe said,to get the bulk of the deposits, followed by CRC electronics cleaner that Mogambo uses.It saves on the CRC . The WD-40 disperses the deposits, then the CRC washes it all away leaving a dry surface.Don't use compressed air to dry electronics most have moisture and traces of oil.Just make sure it is dry before putting it in service. Skip
